Galaxy Council Member of the Month
Member of the Month – Each month the Galaxy Community Council profiles one of its members. This month’s member is:
Bob MacGregor has been a member of the Galaxy Council for 10 years. Like many members of the council Bob served his country as a member of the Army Guard for 36 years. It was in 1959 when Bob left his hometown of Chicopee for Boot Camp and began his career as a full-time technician for the Army Guard. He recalls reporting daily to the “Mole Hole” at Westover to work before his office moved to Roosevelt Ave in Springfield. Today the civilian airport sits on the old mole hole property.
Bob retired in 1996 but has remained active as a volunteer here in the Pioneer Valley with several organizations. He has managed the church office for the Union Church in Ludlow for the last 20 years. Bob handles the weekly duties for the church business and helps the congregation run smoothly. About 10 years ago a few of his close friends asked him to join the Galaxy Community Council. “I wasn’t sure what the GCC was at the time but I’m so glad I’ve gotten involved because it’s been a lot of fun and I really enjoy the camaraderie”, said Bob.
Thank you for all of your work on behalf of the Galaxy Community Council Bob, its members like you that make the organization so great.
