MEMBER OF THE MONTH: November’s Member of the Month is Bill Andresen.
Bill was born in Springfield. As a youngster in the 1950s, Bill’s dad took him to all of the air shows held at Westover when it was a SAC Base. Bill worked with his Dad, an electrical contractor at Westover, all through his high school years. Six months after Bill graduated from WNEU as an Industrial engineer; he was drafted and did basic training at Fort Dix and ADT at Fort Bliss, then was shipped to Germany, where he spent 30 months on a Nike Hercules Missile Base. In the 80s’ Bill joined the National Guard and served 3 years in Lexington close to Hanscom AFB where which he was a club member. After leaving the Guard, Bill transferred his Club Membership to Westover and has been a Club member here ever since.
Bill has had countless Family events at the Westover Club: His wedding reception to his wife Jean, a registered nurse, and a 50th anniversary party for Jean’s Parents. Bill’s daughter Kathy who was born in the same hospital that General George Patton died in, had her wedding reception here. The list of connections goes on.
An active participant in our activities, Bill has been a member of the Galaxy Community Council for 17 years, and a member of the West Side Lions Club for 38 years. He recently joined the Brookfield Institute Care For The Troops which helps recent combat returnees deal with the trauma of War. He and Jean currently reside in Thorndike. Bill has four daughters; Kathy, Lisa, Kara, and Heather; two granddaughters; Lauren and Ada; two grandsons; Joey and Ryan, and a new granddaughter arriving February 2017.
