MEMBER OF THE MONTH: Paul Aubuchon
Paul Aubuchon was born and raised in the city of Chicopee and spent much of his youth on the Westover Air Force base during its most active era. So it was a easy decision for him to join the Air Force in 1966 and begin his career around aviation. “The base had a big influence on my life because everyone I hung out with had some type of connection to Westover.” stated Paul. Paul became a missile systems analyst expert and earned to the rank of staff sergeant. He had a very honorable career in the Air Force and even received the Air Force commendation medal after he saved a missile launch.
After leaving the Air Force Paul continued his passion with aviation by earning his commercial pilot license. Paul became a proficient pilot and begin teaching students how to fly. His fascination with flight continues to this day as a volunteer with the New England Air Museum and the New England Wright Flight at Barnes airport in Westfield.
Paul joined the Galaxy Community Council in 2010 and said it was a natural fit for him to continue his support of aviation and the men and women serving at Westover.
He took over the family business, Aubuchon Paint, early in his career and retired in 1995. Paul will be moving to Florida in the near future with his wife Patricia. He has two adult children Scott is in electrical engineer and works as a civilian for the Navy and Andrew is a physical therapist.
