Galaxy Council Member of the Month
Member of the Month – Each month the Galaxy Community Council profiles one of its members. This month’s member is: Gerry Clark
Gerry Clark – When trying to find the most appropriate word to describe Gerry Clark; the word selflessness comes to mind. His quiet demeanor and matter of fact attitude belie a spirit of serving and thinking of others. Gerry came to the Galaxy Council about 8 years ago at the behest of Galaxy member, Robert Cahillane and has clearly demonstrated his willingness to step up and get involved. Gerry’s military career included a 1966 Vietnam tour with the U. S. Army’s 9th Infantry Division assigned to engage enemy forces in the Mekong Delta.
In addition to volunteering with the Galaxy Council he is also an ombudsman for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. As if that is not enough, he is also involved with the Veteran’s Council of Northampton and is a Past President. Oh wait, there is more! Gerry has been very active in a program to take World War II and Korean War veterans and a family member or caregiver to Washington DC to visit the monuments erected in their honor.
Gerry is still employed at Kollmorgen but says it is only part time. In his spare time (?) he and his wife of 26 years, the former Pamela Godfrey, enjoy golf which is a good thing since their home abuts the Northampton Country Club.
One last example of his demeanor, Gerry did not feel he warranted this acknowledgement but felt another member was more deserving. When it was pointed out that the member has already accepted this last year he relented. Gerry, its people like you that make the Galaxy Community Council such a great organization.
