Galaxy Council Member of the Month
Roger Dudeck – Like many other members Roger Dudeck grew up with the sound of Westover AFB assigned military aircraft flying over his home. The sound served as a constant reminder to Roger of the presence of this important military installation. Despite the air force presence in his life, Roger’s military service was with the U. S. Army. His first assignment was to Fort Kobbe, Panama where he was trained for a future assignment to Korea, Roger said that this was the first sign that, in the military, logic is scarce! His most enjoyable military assignment was serving as a driver for his commander. Upon discharge from the army, Roger enrolled in American International College (AIC) graduating in 1960. During this period he also began working for Liberty Cash Register, which he later owned and operated for 44 years. Married to the former Shirley Mann, Roger and Shirley are the proud parents of three children, Karen, Steven and Julie. Roger and Shirley recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Ask Roger Dudeck how long he has been a member of the Galaxy Community Council and he will tell you “many, many years”! During these many, many years, Roger’s service to the Galaxy Council has included terms as President and Vice President as well as serving as a long time member of the Galaxy Council’s Board of Directors. Throughout his association with the Galaxy Council, Roger has always played a major role in every Galaxy function. From working in setting up tents etc at the Great New England Air Shows to manning the cooking grill at Family Day Picnics, Roger was always there ready to lend a hand wherever necessary.
Roger Dudeck is a fine example of the type of member that makes the Galaxy Council such a great organization. Thanks Roger, we hope you serve for many, many more years.
