Galaxy Council Member of the Month
Member of the Month – Each month the Galaxy Community Council profiles one of its members. This month’s member is:
JoAn Bush – Most people find out about the Galaxy Community Council through friends, not JoAnn Bush! In 2005 Jo and her husband Dave, a retired Air Force fighter pilot were at the Westover Club one night and heard someone giving a presentation in the main room. Being an inquisitive person by nature, she stepped into the room and, after listening to the presentation and, observing those in attendance decided they were her kind of people! The rest is history. Jo joined the Galaxy Council and quickly became deeply involved in the operation of all Galaxy activities bringing fresh ideas to the Galaxy board meetings. A good example is the moving of the Galaxy Christmas parties to the Hukelau Restaurant.
Like many Galaxy members, Jo grew up in the shadow of Westover ARB and the sound of departing B-52 bombers and KC-135 jet tankers. The daughter of a career Navy father, Jo spent many years working for the U.S. Air Force in public affairs and the recruiting service. It was through her work that she met her husband David, who was stationed at the Air Force Fighter Weapons School at Nellis AFB, Nevada, the Air Forces “Top Gun” school where he served as Chief, Red Forces i.e. the aggressor force. A former trainer of 18 world champion horses, Jo shares her love of their three daughters and three grandchildren with their two Morgan horses. Despite the time required to care for the “Morgan’s”, Jo has found time to participate in almost all Galaxy and USO functions related to supporting the armed forces.
Its members like JoAnn Bush that makes the Galaxy Council such a great organization. Thanks Jo for your support.
