Galaxy Council Member of the Month
Member of the Month – Each month the Galaxy Community Council profiles one of its members.
This month’s member is:
Jim Jensen – Jim Jensen’s introduction to Westover ARB began at age 8 when was riding in his father’s truck delivering gravel for use in building runways and roads at the “new” Westover AFB. Even as an 8 year old, Jim took an instant attraction to the U.S. military. Shortly after his marriage to the former Gertrude Dzuris, Jim was drafted and assigned to Aberdeen Proving Grounds for his two year military term. After six years as a civilian, Jim enlisted in the Army for a six year tour during which he spent 15 months in Korea maintaining electronic equipment used on the DMZ. Upon discharge Jim worked for Honeywell working primarily on military equipment. Upon his retirement in 1989 Jim, Gert and their two daughters moved back to Massachusetts. In 2000 Jim joined the Galaxy Community Council and has worked almost all of the subsequent air shows and family picnics. In addition, Jim and Gert, and have also served in many the Westover USO functions. Jim stated he enjoys interacting with the military and, thanks to the Galaxy Council he is able to do so. Its members like Jim Jensen that make the Galaxy Council such a great organization. Thanks Jim for your support.
